The rapid growth of Asia is of great importance to the Dutch business community. Even though, not many Dutch students actively gain knowledge on Asia during their studies. This is unfortunate for the development of Dutch talents. Ever since 2012 a growing community of companies, research universities and governmental bodies have joined forces, together with the NAHSS, to change this unfavourable observation. The relations within this community are based on the shared importance, for both the corporations and the NAHSS, to realize the aim of the programme: to enable the participants of the NAHSS to become fully aware of and able to capture the opportunities that arise on the Asian continent for the Netherlands and to prepare them for the increasing importance of the continent during their career.
By partnering with the NAHSS you invest in the economical future of the Netherlands by contributing to the development of Dutch talent. On top of that, the NAHSS offers a unique platform to get in touch with a group motivated students – selected for the programme by their universities and NAHSS partners – who have a special interest in Asia on subjects such as urbanisation, innovation and sustainability. Every year the selected students conduct research and work on a project for one of our partners within a relevant and topical overarching theme; in 2014 this theme was urbanization, in 2015 the focus was on innovation, especially within the industry of food and health, technology, and society and this year the focus will be on Health and Aging.
The interests of our partners will be guaranteed by the Supervisory Board of the NAHSS, which consists of the following members: Marjan Oudeman (President Utrecht University), Wiebe Draijer (CEO Rabobank), Conrad Keijzer (Executive Committee AkzoNobel), Peter van Mierlo (CEO PwC NL), Peter de Wit (Managing Partner McKinsey & Company Northern Europe) and Anka Mulder (Vice-President Delft University of Technology), Joke Brandt (Secretary-General Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Lidewijde Ongering (Secretary-General Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment) and Co de Heus (CEO Royal de Heus).
As partner of the NAHSS you will be expected to contribute both financially and in kind (e.g. company visit, workshop). Without the contributions of our partners the programme would not be able to organize this national honours programme for excellent Dutch students. The relationships with our partners are based on the shared interest for both partners and the initiative to realise the ultimate goal: to enable the participants of the NAHSS to become fully aware of and able to capture the opportunities that arise on the Asian continent for the Netherlands. Because of the growing importance of the Asian continent this programme should be considered as an future investment, which could not be realized without help of our appreciated partners!
